Their basic services were good initially – reasonably easy to set up and the site was . However, over time after multiple site outages that were for nonsense reasons, my initial happiness with their service disapated. Excuses, misinformation, and lies from management take their toll.
I’ve been with SiteGround for four years, and I can’t express enough how disappointed I am with their service. Here are the main issues I’ve encountered:
Unjustified Traffic Blocks: SiteGround blocks legitimate traffic at the slightest temporary increase, claiming a suspected attack. They don’t verify if the site is under attack; they just block it by default. For example, when we announced webinars and had a modest increase in traffic (around 300 people signing up), they decided we were under attack, and we lost the ability for people to register. Despite their SLAs, I was never offered appropriate compensation.
Cryptic Messaging: Their messages are cryptic and often induce panic. They regularly send alerts that you’re over the limit on something, listing a domain with little to no traffic. They arbitrarily pick one of your domains to raise an alert on, wasting time as you try to figure out what’s happening.
Dismissive Management: When issues are escalated, their management team is dismissive, using phrases like “we will review”, “we will try to improve”, and “we will analyze,” but they never commit to taking action. Even when pressed, the best commitment you get is vague promises about the “possibility of a change.”
Dishonesty: I’ve caught their management outright lying in their replies. They provide BS excuses for blocking legitimate traffic, and when the actual traffic is analyzed, they fabricate reasons to justify their actions.
After enduring these issues for four years, I’ve finally had enough and moved my sites to another provider. I cannot stress enough how much SiteGround should be avoided.
The phone & chat support over at SiteGround is 10/10. I’ve worked with hosts like InMotion & BlueHost in the past and anytime I have an issue, it’s pulling teeth. With SiteGround, I can confidently push the limits for my client’s websites (and my own) knowing that SiteGround’s experts have my back (and a long list of auto backups) there if I need it. During any troubleshooting, they are direct and to the point with limited fussing about, they almost know exactly what to do every time. Thanks SiteGround! Special shoutout to Maksim Z!

The road blocks put in place in terms of AI bots to make it hard to get to talk to human support is 1 star.
Really frustrating and time wasting as a new customer who joined siteground partly to get fast and reliable support.
However, once one has learned and written down the steps to get to support that should be ok, but the fact that an advanced tutorial is needed to even find the human support may make it possible to hire less support staff, question is if it makes them lose clients though.
Dimitri was most kind, most helpful, and he got the job fixed right off,,,found typos and corrected, now my email is coming in again!
SiteGround offers great support. I’m a non-tekkie. Elegant Themes recommended them as a Divi host and boy, they are solid. Every question I’ve had has been answered by a live person via chat. My Divi theme is pre-loaded and they give helpful instructions and tools for website, email and domain name migration. I’m grateful.
(A different, not-to-be-named but colorful, web hosting company kept pointing me to long, confusing articles on how to do things. Unclear and/or too technical, and, at times plain wrong. Various services were expensive, like $99 to migrate each email you own. I enjoyed invoking their 30-day money-back guarantee.)
I purchased hosting from SiteGround, but shortly after, my website broke. I decided to cancel and delete my account, thinking I’d get my refund as per their guarantee. It’s been more than two weeks now, and I still haven’t received my money back. I tried reaching out, but no response. This has been such a frustrating experience. Avoid SiteGround if you’re looking for reliable support and a straightforward refund process.

What Joke. I had quote to renew my hosting for over £400+ after five years with the company. I was being held to ransome but i found a provider that would offer a tranfer for £200 for two years. After i contacted site ground and reduced my servivces they firt reducd the payment to £300. When I considered it thay changed their mind for a lesser service at £500 + and I have the screen shots of the chat. Totaly unreliable host.

I needed to move several sites from one server to another. Some of the moves would take hours using the Migration Plugin that SiteGround has. It was driving me crazy. I contacted Chat support and was responded to very quickly, with a polite and professional response, even though I was a bit prickly.

Reviewing Siteground after interaction with the Live chat team. I always find the chat team really helpful and knowledgable. My issues are all either resolved there and then or are swiftly escalated. The team are nearly always available too – i have literally asked for help through the live chat on New’s Years Eve and got through to someone in seconds, who then proceeded to sort out my issue and get it resolved before the new year!

Happily, I was referred to Siteground by an administrator at Sans College. I have been in website hell with Hostek (they were good once, not anymore), then I tried BlueHost, more hell, and requested cancelation and refund. With any new host, there’s a learning curve, but I’m Very Happy I went with Siteground! The people on chat are great! The AI answers many questions first.

The team was great in helping me to migrate 2 of my sites from my previous host. One was problematic due to plugin issues and they used high-tech means to get it sorted and remove malicious files. They were very efficient in getting things sorted within the hour and answering the questions I had.

I had set my hosting service to auto-renew, and I had not checked the settings. It auto-renewed for 3 years, the period that I had previously set, but after the fact, I decided I wanted to renew for just a single year. When I contacted them, the customer service immediately refunded my credit card for 2 years. Exactly how it *should* work, but not how it normally does nowadays.
I have been using SiteGround around 2 years ago, and the best thing I liked in this system to much, Support Team always they are so fast in assistance and they are so friendly.

I am a new customer of SiteGround and I just want to brag on their technical support. We have had issues with our Wordpress site for years on another host. When we moved to SiteGround, they alerted me to issues they were seeing that was causing problems, and they helped me understand what was going on so I can try to fix it. I can’t ask for a whole lot more from “free” support.
There are no words to describe how great the customer service is at SiteGround. Really! After my last hosting service, migrating to SiteGround is like going to Heaven.
Let me be precise. I’m not a techie. I knew I had to optimize my site for speed. GTMetrix score before I migrated was an E. Load time: 6.1 seconds. After migration, GTMetrix score? B. Load time: 1.1 second. That was after 2 days of hard work and chatting with SiteGround technicians to get the result I was looking for.
Bottom line! The support staff at SiteGround turned my site around from purely mediocre to excellent. That’s valuable.
Setting up another client on Microsoft 365 and was assisted by Yoana when there were a couple of issues. Can’t beat the Support team at SG for their clarity and level of professional advice they offer.
Siteground’s help chat respondents have been helpful on both occasions during a difficult process where my client, an IP owner–has lost access to their account through their original webmaster. SiteGround is a good company. In this instance, they caused me a serious hardship by charging my bank account for the renewal of my hosting service many days early. And I have been paying year after year really too much for a website that just sits there unfinished. Yet I do recommend them. And I appreciate and recommend the Support team! Auto renewal is on but you have to go through a very convoluted system to find how to cancel.
Customer service via chat is just a waste of time… I’ve been waiting and waiting for an answer although the expected wait time is: almost none.
I used to be a big fan of SiteGround and have actually referred many clients to them without any commission.
I have a high-quality client base, all of whom are businesses that need to set up their own business websites. I had planned to widely recommend SiteGround to my clients. However, the different policy Gergo Mladenova gave me in Ticket 4657349 is very hard to accept. I don’t believe it’s in SiteGround’s long-term interest.
I may no longer be willing to recommend SiteGround in the future because I don’t think SiteGround’s affiliate program is worth my effort anymore.
Always great with quick and thorough assistance and advice. I have a few sites on Bluehost and they constantly have issues with the sites and admin area and the customer support is absolutely terrible there. Refreshing here and Vlad upheld the standard.
Recently transferred my VPS in it’s entirety to Siteground, and I am not dissapointed in any way – except maybe I wish I had moved WAY sooner.
Been with siteground a couple of years – no problems at all, but wanted to shut down my website. I had auto renew on and the money was taken out of my account as I forgot, was dreading trying to get a refund as so many companies make you jump through hoops but it was a super simple couple of clicks which I really appreciate!! As for the AI assistance, it helps at a certain level but to be honest, a real person solves the problem faster, the AI keeps looping more questions and issues that frustrate customers when no one wants to waste time on something that is not helping.
I have been with Siteground around 5 years now and they have been consistently great with any tech issue I have ever had. The issues are usually an issue with WordPress or with me but they usually find the fault really quickly. Keep up the good work guys, this is one of the main reasons I don’t go to another hostign provider.

SiteGround Web Hosting can be a tricky thing, from implementation, to transfers, support, installation etc.. there are all kind if items that can come up when it comes to hosting. Most importantly, its having someone on your side to help you with all these issue. While its true that SiteGround Web Hosting has an amazing offering on the technical part of the business, the reason why I really like to use and recommend their service is because of their support. There are plenty of companies out there that can offer web hosting but not many that can do it like SiteGround Web Hosting.

What an excellent customer service experience. The help I received was second to none. The issue was corrected. Even though we were Online Chat, it was clear he had a good personality.
Compared to many other chat experiences I’ve had, this was one of the easiest and best. He knew exactly what to do and guided me to a solution.
Since implementing their own spam filter, things have gone downhill fast. The spam filter is over-zealous and finicky. Want to reply to an e-mail? Nope – “550 High Probability of Spam”. Want to send an attachment? Nope – “550 High Probability of Spam”.
Want to send an email to more than one recipient? Nope – “550 High Probability of Spam”. Technical support are useless and tell us the problem is at our end.
I’ve been managing e-mail clients using webmail for 20 years and have never encountered such a problematic spam filter and a company that so stubbornly refuses to recognise that the problem is their own spam filter. Would not recommend.
I have raised 17 support tickets since September 2023 when the new spam system was introduced, all for the same reason. Each one has been “closed” or “resolved” when clearly the issue has not been resolved and still exists. Every answer I have received has been “it’s your own fault for sending an attachment/ more than 1 recipient/ having a url in your signature” Any excuse to accept that the issue lies with their own anti-spam software.
The irony is that we can receive emails that have done all of the above and when we reply to them we get blocked by our own outgoing provider for spam.
Another issue. Email more than one recipient and if one of those address(es) doesn’t exist or typed incorrectly – none of the emails will send. The sent email will sit in the outbox until the incorrect address can be found, deleted, then resent. Every other provider I’ve ever used would just fail to send the incorrect address, not block all of them. We’re not even told which address is wrong and have to go through them manually to figure out the bad address.
I’m very happy to join SG, actually I met some problem during the verification code process, but SG solved it in 5 mins, really pleased, thanks teams

I was given help immediately by the agent in the chat. My issue was I had been using the wrong words to describe the action I wanted to take. The agent picked up on this, understood the action I wanted to take and directed me to the resolution within seconds.
I’ve set up eight clients with SiteGround hosting and referred 3-4 others to use SiteGround. Some clients use SiteGround to host a single website, while others are hosting multiple sites there. SiteGround addresses the need for clients to have a high performing web server with a wide feature set at a reasonable cost with great backend support. Pricing is a little expensive though.

I have been a long time customer of siteground through multiple businesses. Sadly, their prices become too expensive for me and I needed to move elsewhere. I kept trying to migrate the site but kept getting inode exceeded after inode exceeded error and it wouldn’t work. I then went on holiday and came back to find my site had been deleted. I asked for my site and all of the data to be sent to me… as it is my data and content but they tried to charge me £85. I am incredibly unhappy.
After looking at a few hosting providers, SiteGround offered the best dedicated hosting for our website at https://thereach.ai/ , with a global CDN coverage included in the price and very good wordpress support – tools, features and after I discovered the plugins that come with it – SEO, website optimization, cache etc.

I’ve been with Siteground since 2018 and annual increases in the cost of a plan are a fact of life, but this year, with no warning, my GrowBig plan increased by 66%! This is why I am not giving them five stars. Besides this, online chat help is always excellent, and was today too and as a hosting company they have always been stable and secure.

There are several things that will keep me with SiteGround, but the customer service remains #1. Two separate times I was lucky enough to have the same person aid me. They remained patient through my domain propagation ignorance, and it really is such a gift to have chat access 24/7. The other site I was attempting to route from only offers chat 8-5 m-f, which is hard for a working girl.
Thankfully, SiteGround’s customer service is knowledgeable enough that I didn’t need to take time out of my busy work schedule to try and catch them “when they were available.”
I was told last night by the live chat that your servers keep a copy of websites that are built on your servers. I started building a site last fall of 2023 and found that you were doing back-ups every day as you had promised.
So yesterday, I pointed my site to NameCheap.com by entering ns1.siteground.net and ns2.sitegound.net in the custom drop-down window, each on a separate line.
Today, I was told the website was being directed to another location. Yesterday afternoon, in live chat, Tec told me that the servers at NameCheap were ok, but when I typed my website domain into the address bar, only a blank WordPress page appeared. So, the website address took me to a blank WordPress page without any theme or files. The Tec then said I deleted the website. I didn’t delete thebiblestudents.com or remove any files. I was working on it before I contacted live chat yesterday, and after the live chat, I pointed the site to NameCheap.com and waited over 5 hours. your servers dropped all my files, and today, it is not even working.
Now, I am being asked to redirect my site to dns1.registrar-servers.com and dns.registrar-servers.com and will wait for 72 hours.
Last night, I was told Site Ground could restore my files for $50 dollars, and after the live chat today, they show two saved websites: one that was deleted that was started with a temp domain, which I do not need, and that is why I deleted it. The other is the blank WordPress page when I type in the domain.
I was slow to make changes and contacted live chat before I pointed my website to NameCheap and used the same domain that is still listed in my account. Access through SiteGround site pulls up the same blank page with no files.
We will wait for NameCheap to work out the new setting the Tec asked me to try

Super friendly and helpful. I knew my answer was in the Knowledgebase but it’s late and I needed to get something done quickly, I just had a few straightforward questions. I’ve always updated name servers in the past, never pointing the domain via an A record, which he reminded me was an option and that’s going to save me a lot of time and ultimately make this transfer a lot easier for all parties involved.
Siteground’s customer service is incredible. I will never host with anyone else. No matter how complex or tedious my problem is, they are always incredibly helpful and patient in working it out.

Yavor resolved the issue nice & quick. The issue was with the server used by the people sending us emails, not a problem with SiteGround (but SG still looked into it & resolved).

Can’t fault the service, especially when support is required. Yes, you need to be able to do some things yourself but when required and justified you can reach the support teams and issues are resolved quickly and efficiently by knowledgeable staff.
As far as the hosting, its great value for a start up provided you are able to do some of the legwork yourself. I’m 4yrs on with SG now and unlikely to move, just hoping that I can grow as they grow.
Great tech support. Dealt with what he could and handed off what needed working on with more resources to higher ups with a priority put on it. I’m happy with that.
Hands down, still the best chat support in the biz. They are very knowledgeable and will go out of their way to troubleshoot the issue with you. Every other support team I’ve contacted in the last couple years usually can’t offer answers beyond the basic faq’s.
Always helpful support team. When there are issues that I can’t resolve with a website or server problem, Siteground has fast, smart tech support available to help. Not stuck talking to robots (they do still offer AI) or waiting for someone who doesn’t understand English. They do a great job.

If they can’t help due to a 3rd-party problem, they’ll give me an article to empower me. The prices are reasonable. I’ve never had a problem. With my previous host, I had several problems. I’d definitely recommend SiteGround.

Siteground may not be very affordable to someone that’s just bootstrapping but the $$ you spend to host your site with them is well worth it.
I recently moved a couple of my sites to SiteGround, and I couldn’t be happier. After installing their recommended WordPress plugin, the transfer was seamless and quick, and I was able to get started working on my site straight away.
I love the built in tools for SSL and caching, and the automatic backups. The ability to easily set up a staging site is a plus, too.
Another good feature is the automatic optimization with the SiteGround plugin. My site is much faster. So far, I’m very happy, and am thinking about moving more of my sites to SiteGround.
