I have had good experiences with Namecheap. I started with them after getting tired of the excessive upselling on GoDaddy. Since then, I have been transferring domains as they come up for renewal. I use Namecheap mostly for domains, but I also use their EasyWP managed WordPress service, which has worked great so far. Support is primarily by email, but they have always been responsive. Also note that Namecheap has deep operational ties to Ukraine in both solidarity and staffing. They seem to be a good company to me.
Namecheap set up 2FA on my account. When I tried to reset it after changing phones, they repeatedly sent verification emails that never arrived — and refused to take responsibility.
I went through at least 10 rounds of copy-paste apologies (“I’m sorry, I understand your frustration”) with offshore support reps, each time starting over from scratch. Escalation requests went nowhere. They would not call me, they would not accept alternative verification, and they ignored the fact that I had already submitted a government ID and passed their facial scan verification.
Instead of resolving the issue, they passed me from one rep to another, each asking for the same information I had already provided. It felt less like incompetence and more like a deliberate game of wearing the customer down — as if wasting my time was part of the process.
Result: I was locked out of my account for days, my website risked downtime, and my business suffered.
Bottom line: Do NOT trust this company with anything mission-critical. They have no concept of real customer care, no accountability, and no urgency. If you value your time, money, and online presence, choose another provider.

I’ve been a Namecheap customer now for 5 years, in that time I’ve had no real issues. About 6 months ago they migrated my hosting new a new UK data centre which has resolved the minimal downtime I did experience and now I hardly receive any notifications from my monitoring services which is fantastic.
In the past week I’ve had to contact support for 2 separate issues, one a database issue (caused by myself being impatient) and the other an email deliverability issue. On both occasions support has been fantastic, they’ve been thorough with their diagnosis of the issues, advised me on better practices (I should just be more patient IMHO) and resolves the issues.
I host several websites through them and I’ve never had any major issues and I have no hesitation in renewing with them and recommending other users to them as they offer the same as most other providers for a fraction of the price! I missed paying my renewal because of a long illness, and they put my domain name on a kind of suspension, freeze for months.
I sent them multiple messages explaining and asking if I could pay, and apologised. But their multiple replies were, Please explain (which I did, so many times), and Please login and pay (which I tried so many times). Without success.
After months of trying and sending them messages, I gave up.
Now they want 30X what I had initially paid.
For an unusual domain name that will never be bought. But they are betting on me buying it again. Thats what they do. Disgusting company.
Its an absolute con, and terrible way to treat customers.

Be very careful: these are thieves and scammers. I bought three different domains, all of which were blocked for no reason, and I havent received any refund. I strongly advise against them.
The live chat is with a real person, not an AI generated respond. That is very important when trying to solve an issue. So I give it a five stars.
The ONLY issue was that it took three people before I got the information I needed, but that’s not a huge deal. Once the right person was working with me, he gave me links to exactly the procedures I needed to perform. He even gave me several choices, and one of them was dead easy. I’ve always had great experience with Namecheap support so far, and I expect to in the future.

I had Namecheap previously and left for a “better” offer. I got tired of that company “nickeling and diming” me to death. Namecheap is straightforward with their pricing, which I appreciate. I registered to obtain a new domain. Registration, creditcard payment and activation on new domain done in minutes. So far so good. (Servers & clients configured while waiting for DNS propagation. All working in <1hour.)
But then, about 2hrs after registration my account was blocked. Redirected to a livechat via a link below. They cannot help, have to go via email as it's a "risk management issue". Got a mail that I need to verify my account within 24hrs, otherwise my order will be cancelled.
Asked for method to validate. The requested a code from the creditcard statement within 24hrs, otherwise I will be cancelled. (This threat was actually in every mail.)
After calling my bank and creditcard company I learned that it will appear after 1-2days ("up to 48hrs"). Namecheap does not care. Need to present the code from the payment or I will be cancelled.
Asked *multiple times* for other methods to validate my identity. Then got a link to an external ID service (veriff.me) with a list of accepted documents i.e. a passport. Went through the process, got successfully verified by veriff and reported back to Namecheap. Only answer: We cannot accept that, and I got a new link. Again, went through the whole process, and again got confirmation of a successful validation of my ID.
But, again they refuse to accept and again threaten that I will be cancelled if I don't get verified within the 24hr window.
So, I ask why they won't accept my validation - done already twice successfully! Reply from Namecheap is: They won't tell me "why" they won't accept my successful validation done by the service they sent me to: Because of data protection laws!
So, after all this, they went back to "we need the statement from the credit card payment". (Which the bank does not provide immediately!)
Plus, though it becomes almost irrelevant after all this:
- They keep writing your name wrong.
- There is never a name in a mail to you have a reference who you spoke to.
- There is always someone else answering, not really aware of previous communication it seems. (Also evident from the fact that the previous mail/communication is always cut off in a reply.)
- Every email says they are sorry for the "inconvenience"... which makes it even worse when they are not really helping, not following their own processes.
So, all in all. The worst "new customer experience" I had to face EVER. Best recommendation: Stay away from this company! Or, learn through pain yourself.

Do not use this platform. I purchased a domain for over £5,000. They took the money from my account, then a day later informed me the order and domain was cancelled and that I would receive a refund within 10 business days all by an automated email. Due to exchange rate fluctuations, Ill lose hundreds of £s. No real person has contacted me. They took my money without providing the product. Communication is limited to an AI chat and repetitive automated email responses. This is completely unacceptable. Spend the extra money with GoDaddy or another reputable, secure provider. Shocking company.

Very shady auction system.
I won an auction at namecheap, they took 5 days to send me the payment inquiry because they told me the domain was from one of their “partner” so they had to transfer it I guess and it took 5 days.
When I finally paid the inquiry after 5 days, I noticed the “registerd on” date change on the domain which shouldn’t have because thats one of the main reason I am purchasing a domain from the auction to keep the original registered date.
That means the domain expired, which means ANYBODY could’ve registered that domain even if I won the auction on their site. Have I been more aware, even I could’ve went to any domain registar and simply register the domain for the extension cost without having to pay a the auction price.
That is fraudulent to say the least.
Absolutely illegal and not how auction system should work.
I will never in this life time use their service or any affiliated service with them.

Then when they sent me an email referring me to prove how I purchased the domain I sent them the actual receipt they still did not accept !!! They said that they wanted to see my Bank Statement I sent them that they still refused to let me in my account ! THIS IS TOTAL HARASSMENT!!! And FRAUDULENT!!!!

I’ve recently been automatically charged by Namecheap for 10 domain names that I haven’t used for at least 8-10 months, and I was advised that there was no way for me to receive a refund. This is despite the automatic charge of $AUD500 being made on 23 December and me making contact on 28 December, without even factoring in that it’s the Christmas period. The service that I received was both uncaring and inflexible, to say the least. It was also a significant mark-up from the AUD$78 that I paid for the 10 domain names around 12 months earlier – a nice profit for Namecheap without doing anything. I’d be really careful before you sign up to use domains through Namecheap – they are way more focused on making money than providing a quality, personalised service based on specific customer needs and situations. It’s a scam.
Namecheap Customer Service team is absolutely the best compared to any others. I’ve been with them almost 8 years because they consistently go above and beyond to make sure customers are completely satisfied. Their prices are more than competive, and they prove their commitment to loyal customers. Lastly, I rarely experience downtime with my sites.
They literally will sell and won’t suspend hundreds of domains for websites that use AI to “undress” people without their consent. This has already become a crime pretty much worldwide, but they claim that “since they’re not the hosting company”, they “can’t” do anything.
It’s completely possible for them to put the domains on clientHold to avoid more people using those websites, bit they don’t want to because they earn money from them.

Namecheap chat support is incredibly helpful! It meant someone was continuously there to help during a server issue which had to be resolved before transferring to Alma Linux. Even though I was nervous and less than ideal to communicate with, they were patient and completely calm, and thanks to their help I suffered no data loss in the migration. Almost everything except some DNS was ready to go for all my cPanel accounts. It was the most trouble-free migration I have ever experienced. Thank you Namecheap.
Their FastVPN is a real nightmare. This was never connected to my computer and only a few times on my phone. When it was connected, the speed was too low and the support agent asked me to change my ISP, It became harder to accept such a stupid answer.
It was the worst service I ever purchased.
I was with Namecheap since 2019. Suddenly basic features like uploading a image in a post broke as well as uploading in the cPanel was broke for some time. I contacted them and for 8 days I told them the basic features uploads have stopped working, and the site was blocking many reputable websites like youtube.com post. So for 8 days I was transferred to agent after agent after agent. I finally said I intend to migrate to another host as they have failed miserably. Now on the 9th day I began the migrate to another host took less than 24 hours. Keep in mind my website is no longer with Namecheap at all now, yet they send me message after message for days they are working on my issue and the site is not on Namecheap. My point is they use generic responses and in many cases they are doing absolutely nothing except sending GENERIC BS Messages.

I have owned many domain names with namecheap over the years. They publicly mention that there is a grace period of 60-70 days after domain expiration, during which period I can recover a domain.
However, Namecheap auctioned off one of my domains well before this deadline, and now I can’t get it back!

From the answer seems Namecheap still don’t understand the problem.

However, with my most recent chat with support, I think the process will be much easier in the future with the NameCheap SSL Plugin.

namecheap is cheap web hosting, but you will need to contact customer service often when things don’t work properly. periodic glitches when you are trying to make changes that don’t take. but they have chat 24/7, I think, that can fix everything that has happened, and the customer service seem to be knowledgable and ready with links to help files (that can be saved for future reference). H of a lot cheaper than godaddy. proper comodo sectigo SSL on namecheap are about $10/year per domain/subdomain with frequent coupons, but on godaddy, SSL are like 60/year per each domain/sub.

However, I was busy and faced a long-term problem during this period, so I forgot about my Namecheap services. Now that I am resuming everything, I tried to register a new free domain with a coupon, but I received an error. I contacted your chat support, but their response was disappointing and unhelpful. They told me they could not assist me, despite my request for a new domain.
As a client, I expect assistance and polite communication when I encounter problems. Their attitude was unacceptable, and this has been a very bad experience for me. Because of this, I will not be renewing my services with Namecheap. I hope Namecheap’s market presence declines soon due to such poor customer service.

Really disappointed and moving my business elsewhere. I’ve been with Namecheap for 4 years. Moved all my domains from Godaddy to Namecheap. That’s over 30 domains.
I have my domains set up for auto renewal. Never had an issue until today. I noticed my domains haven’t been renewing. I’ve had to go in and do it manually for the past few months.
I tried to manually pay through Paypal and was refunded twice. After digging further, they told me I had to pay an activation fee equal to my renewal fee. It had expired because it didn’t auto renew….and I have to pay a fee to reactivate it after 4 days of it expiring? There’s a grace period. I know that. They know that and they wouldn’t budge on that extra fee.
I told them I’ll move all my domains again. They just apologize and didn’t offer any redemption. No problem.
Another reason I’m leaving is because they had a 2FA structure issue that is unsecure. The only way I could access my account is to get them to shut 2FA off in my account. Sounds safe, right? It was never fixed and no credit was offered.
For all the good they were before, they treat their customers like crap now. Avoid.

Customer service is absolutely terrible. Spent 2.5 hrs chatting to problem solve why a url redirect isn’t working. Was transferred twice. The people forgot my question multiple times during the chat. Absolutely frustrating. Insisted to speak to Senior and was diverted again and again until I said I’d leave a negative review using their name – that finality worked. Although, in some cases, it can be a little more compared to other domain registrars, so it’s better to look at providers as well, before making the final purchase. They can give you the best price for domains and hosting, but when you fail to renew they will ask additional price. One of my domains I got late to renew, now my account has a two-factor setup and the password cannot be recovered in any way but two-factor OTP. They applied restrictions to your account when they saw that you have a high-value domain. Now after discussing the issue with customer support for 1 hour, CS said that I need to submit a ticket. Pure waste of time to get back my domain amazingaddiction dot com

I use Namecheap to manage all of my personal and professional domains. A few years ago I transferred all of our domains to Namecheap and recommend it to everyone. Domain purchase and management is foreign enough for most people without having to deal with a cumbersome and clunky interface which is what I feel most other providers offer. Namecheap is easy, affordable, and does what it’s supposed to do.
I know sometimes it’s not worth it to provide priority & best service for small-size clients but I only use Namecheap they provide faster & prompt service no matter what is my issue how small is the issue.
I migrated all of my services to Namecheap for this. Maria is best.
Namecheap uses Zenddesk of wich I am very fond of. Namecheap really wants to help you succeed and most supportofficers really try to make the most out of your experience as a new website owner. They also provide personal requirements and options where they can and within the company profiles limits of course. An example is the ability to manage your dns from your favorite location (as long as the other host has a good reputation of course). Also they provide several options for creating websites: from Wordpress to Website builder. Security is an important aspect for me and for Namecheap as well. You can customize your security settings. One tip: Namecheap could benefit from making explanimations on the several features the provide and how to use them (I think) – but for now: if you are not a developer you can just get the assistance and answers you need by making use of the excellent Namecheap support.
Someone falsely claimed a transaction on my website, threatening to report it. Within two hours, they hastily conducted a mere 10-minute investigation, solely observing their own activity on the site. Without any attempt to reach out or gather proper evidence, they abruptly suspended my website. Despite being a loyal customer for years with multiple domains, this incident marks the end of my trust in NameCheap. I’ll be seeking refunds via PayPal and severing ties with them indefinitely. Their unreliability and lack of integrity make them unfit to be trusted. Furthermore, their support is horrible.
Edit: The suspension of the hosting and domain has been lifted, restoring everything to normal. Consequently, the review has been updated. While the initial situation was unpleasant and challenging, I’m relieved and happy that it has been resolved.
If not for the customer support, I would not be with namecheap. Customer support are quick to respond and very very professional. English was great and easy to communicate via chat. 10/10.
Been with Namecheap a few years, now. Good service, they get back to you promptly. Sometimes they just send you a link to the appropriate Knowledge Base of theirs but it’s not always enough. Another inquiry will usually get you someone with more detailed info. That’s about the only criticism I have. Been with them about 4 years. Very pleasant to work with.

We have 6 domains and premium DNS servers with Namecheap. We are getting a good price for domains and their premium DNS service is also excellent. On top of that, excellent chat support when the need arises.
You get what you pay for – and the clue is in the name – CHEAP. This is worrying organisation. They have this chat based support and sometimes it can take hours to fix things. If you add new services (easyWP and wordpress hosting) they might break your DNS records and not know how to fix them. It’s really frustrating. Access to the platforms could be faster because email is terribly slow if it works at all – I mean adding it to outlook as an IMAP account just would not work and they are unable to help (!).
I use Namecheap to manage domain registration for a portfolio of properties. Namecheap also handles DNS for some of these domains. Where we use another DNS service Namecheap makes it simple to switch to another DNS provider. There is also very little lag time when making DNS changes, so our development processes aren’t needlessly slowed waiting for DNS updates to propogate.
Namecheap provides a simple to use and cost effective way to register and manage our domains. It’s one of those services that just works and once you have it going you never really need to worry about it again.
Namecheap is a great hosting platform for simple sites and purchasing domains. Their user interface is simple and modern. Their cPanel is great and modern and using it to point DNS to the right folder is easy to follow. I use them exclusively to purchase new domains and searching for domain records. They have quick and no-nonsense support. For the price point, Namecheap is fantastic for hosting simple sites and the only domain purchaser i trust.
That NameCheap chat is such a life hack! I spoke with Faina and I cannot say enough great things about the amazing support provided. For me, it was the clear communication and willingness to help reconcile a pressing issue for me. I feel like I make a great investment in Namecheap because of the support. I’ve worked with other domain providers and hosts and Namecheap is the best at this!
I used these guys for many years, mostly because they don’t add a lot of crap to your cart by default when you buy a domain name. However I just had the highly dubious pleasure of buying a “premium” domain name (read domain squatting). They “forgot” to mention this is a manual process that may take up to 72 hours and require additional information so stay tuned for a Phone call! Yey. Obviously the domain has to change hands and they have to pay for it before they can fleece me. So if you are in a hurry, like most people are these days, stay away from any “premium” domains. I only bought it because a client insisted.
Namecheap support really helped me solve my problem. The customer service was extremely helpful and efficient. I am very satisfied with their support and will definitly recomment them.
Horrible, there was a miscom and they erroneously charge my credit and refuse to refund the money back. The customer service lady, Diana F., was not compromising and refused to assist me on the refund. i went past the 120hour refund period by an hour and they said that’s why they refused to refund, when it was actually their fault all the while. i will never use namecheap again.

Every time I’ve asked for help with my domains or the private email, and Namecheap support has been quick, professional, and very thorough in their support. It has been a delight working with every one of the support employees over the years.
Barebones cheap products backed my minimal service that kept on passing me off because “chat agents” didn’t know how to do something. Then DNS records started disappearing. Wouldn’t offer refund. Wasted money and time!

First they will suspend your account under the guise of “resource abuse” without even speaking to you.
Then they will blackmail you to upgrade.
If you decide not to they won’t provide a backup of your account unless you pay for it. The blackmail continues.

Namecheap has great support! Their customer support always is very prompt and helpful. I’ve never had any complaints with them.
Namecheap has good prices for their products but the standout for me is that they have always provided stellar customer service…despite me having just a handful of domains.
They will take care of the tech side if you ask for their help. I know most of the time I could muddle my way through the technical details of say re-issuing an SSL certificate but they make it easy and will guide you or even do it for you. Something complex and frankly bewildering is made simple and easy.

I have been with namecheap for over 5 years … and before that I was with godaddy. and I purchase and set up at least 1-2 sites every year.
I have never felt the need to leave namecheap and that’s only down to the fact that when I need someone to solve my problem .. there is always someone available to chat. And not just that … all their agents are knowledgeable and professional.
