TL;DR: What We Think of Kamatera
Kamatera offers highly flexible cloud hosting – even their “standard” plans require you to customize the server configurations. Perfect for developers who love to customize without draining their wallets. But for beginners or the tech-timid? It’s like trying to solve a Rubik’s Cube blindfolded. Great for the tech-savvy, a puzzle for everyone else.

Evaluating Kamatera: A Breakdown of Performance, Security, and Other Key Features
Established in 1996 by Yohay Azulay and Asaf Azulay, Kamatera is a cornerstone of the Israel-based OMCGroup Infrastructures and Computing business, founded in 1995.
With data centers located worldwide (24 locations!), the company offers a wide range of customizable plans, making it an attractive option for users who need specific cloud configurations. Its offerings include cloud servers, block storage, and managed cloud services, allowing businesses to scale their resources on demand.
In the following sections, we’ll take a closer look at how Kamatera performs across critical areas like hosting speed, server security, customer support, and overall value.
What Can You Expect from Kamatera in Terms of Speed & Uptime Performance?
Yes, Kamatera server offers good speed performance. However, keep in mind that Kamatera is more of an infrastructure provider hence there isn’t a lot of built-in speed features on their platform. The options of Litespeed server and NVMe SSD storage are available if you are willing to pay extra for a higher plan.
Is Your Website Safe with Kamatera’s Security Measures?
Yes, websites hosted on Kamatera can be secure with server-side security, but the level of security depends on how you configure your server.
As an IaaS provider, Kamatera provides a range of security tools and options, including firewalls, DDoS protection, and daily backups. However many of these features come as optional add-ons rather than standard inclusions. You are responsible for implementing your own security measures or opting for paid managed services where Kamatera handles the setup.
For experienced users who can configure security settings or opt for managed services, Kamatera can offer solid server protection, but beginners may need to invest extra time or money to ensure comprehensive security.
What Can You Expect from Kamatera’s Customer Support?
As infrastructure provider, Kamatera offers a different level of support compared to managed hosting services. Their support is more focused on infrastructure-related issues and is less about spoonfeeding detailed guidance on website or application development. While essential support for technical issues with their platforms is there, users generally need a higher level of technical expertise to manage and troubleshoot their applications. In case you need help from Kamatera, you can reach out via phone, live chat, and email.
Is Kamatera’s Pricing Justified by the Value and Features It Offers?
Kamatera provides good value for users who need flexibility and scalability in their cloud hosting. Its pay-as-you-go model and simple prebuilt plans offer competitive pricing, especially for businesses with fluctuating resource needs.
However, the true cost can rise quickly with additional services like cPanel, managed support, email hosting, and backups. For experienced users who can handle server configurations and want a customizable solution, Kamatera’s pricing reflects strong value. But for those seeking an all-in-one package with fewer hidden costs, the extra charges may reduce its overall appeal.
All in all, we think Kamatera is worth it if you prioritize flexibility and performance over simplicity.
How is Kamatera Rated Based on Overall Market Satisfaction?
Users generally appreciate Kamatera’s flexibility, performance, and responsive after-sales support. Many highlight the platform’s customizable plans as a key benefit. On the flip side, some users express concerns about the added costs for essential features, noting that these extras can make the platform more expensive than initially expected. There are also other who have encountered issues with random account suspensions and billing problems.
For additional insights, please refer to the user reviews section below.
Is Kamatera Suitable for Beginners?
No, Kamatera is too complex and an overkill for beginners. While Kamtera is highly scalable and can be highly powerful – we don’t think it suits the needs for those seeking a simple and cost-effective hosting service.
Is Kamatera Suitable for Small Businesses?
Kamatera is a good option for small businesses that need flexibility and scalability. Its customizable plans allow businesses to start small and grow, with pay-as-you-go pricing helping control costs. But then again, we have to stress that Kamatera’s platform can be complex, with additional fees for services like cPanel and managed support, making it less ideal for those without technical expertise. Tech-savvy businesses will benefit from its performance, but beginners may find more value elsewhere.
Is Kamatera Suitable for Web Developers?
Yes, Kamatera is made for web developers. If you are a seasoned web developers who understand your specific needs, you will 100% appreciate the flexibility and scalabilty you get with Kamatera’s offerings.
Is It Possible to Host Custom Email with Kamatera?
Yes, you can host your own email accounts with Kamatera, but it requires setting up your server with the necessary email server software. Kamatera does not provide a pre-built email hosting service like some other web hosting companies, but you can configure a cloud server with the appropriate software stack (for instance, cPanel) for hosting email.
How Easy Is the Onboarding Process with Kamatera?
Kamatera can be a bit challenging for new customers without technical expertise to start with. Yes, its prebuilt plans help simplify the buying process, and the onboarding process after purchase is clear and well-thought-out. However, new users might still struggle with configuring essential features like security settings, server management, and additional services such as cPanel, which are not included by default and require extra setup.
For more experienced users, the setup is straightforward, but beginners might find the learning curve steep compared to other hosting providers with more user-friendly interfaces. For your reference, we explored Kamatera’s dashboard through a demo account and captured some screenshots to showcase its features and user interface, which can help users get a better idea of what to expect.
Does Kamatera Offer a Free Trial?

Kamatera Cancellation Policy
Kamatera offers a straightforward billing and cancellation policy that varies based on whether you’re using a monthly or hourly server.
For new users, Kamatera provides a 30-day free trial with a credit of up to $100. After the trial, monthly server users are billed on the 1st of the following month, and it’s important to note that if you cancel a monthly server after the 1st, you’ll still be charged for the entire month. Therefore, to avoid extra charges, ensure you cancel before the start of the new billing cycle.
For hourly servers, billing operates on a post-billed system, meaning you will receive an invoice the month after the server is terminated, covering any usage from the prior month. Once an hourly server is terminated, no further charges are incurred for its usage.
Final Thought: Is Kamatera Right for You?
While Kamatera’s affordability and advanced features make it a strong choice for experienced users with technical expertise, beginners may find it too complex to set up. Additionally, certain essential services like managed support and a web hosting control panel come at an extra cost, which can quickly add up. The IaaS platform excels in performance and scalability; but our market research shows that its customer support can occasionally fall short of expectations.
Overall, we believe Kamatera is ideal for users comfortable with self-management, but not the best fit for beginners or small businesses seeking a straightforward hosting solution.
I’ve started using Kamatera VMs since 18 months ago. My experience with them has been good. I see Kamatera as a decent company and the folks over there I had experience working with are good people. We’ve moved a lot of our servers to Kamatera from other providers.
I highly recommend Kamatera to anybody who needs cloud services.
Pros:
solid VM with API support to enable automation,
reasonable pricing,
responsive customer service
Cons:
A limit that prevents us from creating new servers too quickly called “Servers Create Frequency” was an issue for us as we have a unique need to create a lot of VMs sometimes in a short period of time. The account manager from customer service was flexible and helped us increase the limit multiple times as our need increased.
I have good experience with Kamatera but Billing is starting to be not so easy! 5 cards down and I can’t get paypal working my server is down over $6 I can’t seem to pay! as of now it’s a weekend and No one can help. Server is good jest can’t pay when I have to talk to fraud department all the time to say it’s OK! Gets old.
It’s cheap and it somewhat works, but for months I was unable to log in to their cloud platform because ‘my IP address has changed’. Their “solution” was that I had to reset my password each time I log in and that I can only log in from one IP address (which also didn’t work unless I tried it 10 times). What a ridiculous requirement.
No security at all, they set hundreds of logins attempts to our website. If they can’t keep their own site safe, why trust them with yours?
I’ve been a customer for one year, and have never had any issues. Very easy to create a server, easy to configure up or down based on current needs, transparent pricing, and service has always been excellent when I’ve had questions. I’ve been so impressed that I decided to join their affiliate scheme, which has also been a very smooth process so far with prompt payments
Just a headache. Kamatera customer support is terrible and honestly gave me a headache having to deal with them. If only their policies were more customer friendly and we didn’t have to use their support team, it’ll create a better customer experience. 1/5 from me and won’t be recommending this cloud provider to anyone. If you are going to pay top dollar for cloud services you deserve better support and service for your money. Look else where guys, you’ve been warned
I’ve been a client of theirs for nearly 2 months as of writing this review, and their client services are fantastic.
Anything I’ve had questions on or needed has been answered with professionalism.
Oren assisted me with my setup, and was there every step of the way. Would recommend to anyone looking for a server.
I created a free managed account, and was showing it to my client. I got support to help me setup my database. I took over and all was good. So my client wants to call Kamatera to talk about buying 4 dedicated servers. Service is outstanding, but sales is SLOW. Please add sales people to answer the phone. New customer should not have to schedule a meeting a week later just to ask some questions.
When Siteground stopped supporting Magento 2 I decided to look for an alternative that would give me full control.
I have to say I am very impressed with Kamatera, the VM is very fast (UK hosting) and the price is excellent. I have had no problems and the few times I have contacted support the reply and been quick and helpful.
Working with this company many years and all was good. Since last Month kamatera start used strange “optimizations” – for example they just stop your VM (i’m used A & B class VMs) and just cloned it. As a result i start lost my licenses and required to create new VMs in order once again apply licenses. I wrote in support. Firstly they don’t admit about their activities but after just came to me with suggestions – “lets you provide to us your credentials from your vps and we can change something”))) are really guys?))) I don’t know reason of this behavior but currently it worst cloud to my mind!
Good service, for a cheap price. But in case you have a problem you do not get reply (unless the problem prevents you from paying them) and to fix minor issues it takes a lifetime. Just to say, there is a problem in their billing system and the VAT of the client is not properly reported on the invoices. I’ve been waiting for a solution for months, and now they do not even answer the emails. Very bad client support.
I’ve been using Kamatera for a remote server in New York for my job, and it has been nothing short of amazing. The setup process was incredibly smooth and straightforward, allowing me to get up and running quickly. The performance is top-notch, with consistently fast and reliable connections, which is crucial for my work. Their customer support is also exceptional, always responsive and ready to help with any issues or questions. Kamatera’s flexibility and scalability are perfect for my needs, making it easy to adjust resources as my projects grow. Overall, Kamatera has exceeded my expectations in every way, and I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a dependable and efficient cloud hosting solution.
Terrible support experience. Console page is down and can’t connect to my servers at all. They keep saying its either my issue or everything is working properly. Avoid their service
Support is the key with cloud providers. When a critical server is down, we need immediate action. We had to switch from a competitor to Kamatera because we were not getting timely or acceptable support, and we have been very happy since. The Kamatera systems are stable, and the tech support (both email and humans by phone!) is timely and professional.
I was seeking a VPS that would allow me to set up and run my own VM image as an instance. The option on the Kamatera website did not work as intended, so I continued my search elsewhere. Shortly after, I received an email from the support team offering their assistance. Shahar successfully uploaded the VM image and deployed the server. There have been no hiccups since then. This is a degree of service that merits recognition. Kamatera is currently hosting two of my instances. I can only recommend.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH!
I have deployed about 10 VPS and loaded my card info etc on their website. after about 2 weeks they SUDDENLY stopped all my servers, blocked access to my account and asked me to upload a VIDEO of me holding an ID for “verification purposes”. mind you they have just charged my card for services for the upcoming month. I have then asked for a refund for the remaining unconsumed portion of the services BUT they have refused and told that I’m still incurring charges until I upload the video. which I declined to do!
Overall good but add invoices for god’s sake
The servers are nice and the IP i got wasn’t in any spam databases. Pricing is great, but I seemingly can’t delete my bank card details.
Also, they don’t create invoices, so everything is billed automatically every month. It sucks since many people (including me) need more control over billing and every other hosting has that lacking feature.
They blocked my account when I tried to use my virtual card (which you should always do for your own protection).
They don’t inform you beforehand that virtual cards are not accepted.
To unblock my account they require a $10 PAYMENT (that may or may not be returned if they feel so).
I’m new to the whole virtual server thing, but Kamatera has been outstanding. I use Kamatera to host my streaming radio station. It is very easy to use with Microsoft Remote Desktop as well as using the smartphone app. I also really enjoy being able to increase hard drive space or CPUs quickly. I can just do it from my Kamatera account and then, with a quick reboot, it’s there! Finally, I’ll say that the customer service is outstanding. I had a few issues and questions in the beginning and the tech support was phenomenal. I’ve been recommending Kamatera to all my colleagues. This has been a total game changer.
