HostPapa has completed the acquisition of Hostwinds LLC, extending its hosting portfolio across shared hosting, cloud VPS, dedicated servers, and reseller services.

The deal was announced on April 29, 2026. Hostwinds is a Seattle-based hosting provider founded in 2010. The company serves developers, small and medium-sized businesses, agencies, and resellers. HostPapa says the acquisition expands its global hosting footprint and full-stack infrastructure capabilities.

What Did HostPapa Acquire?

HostPapa acquired Hostwinds LLC, a web hosting company with services across shared hosting, cloud VPS, dedicated servers, and reseller hosting.

Hostwinds was founded by Peter Holden and has built an international customer base. Its service mix gives HostPapa more reach beyond small-business shared hosting and into more technical hosting use cases, including VPS, dedicated infrastructure, and reseller accounts.

HostPapa says Hostwinds customers will continue receiving service through the brand, now supported by the broader HostPapa organization. The announcement does not list immediate changes to pricing, billing, control panels, plan names, or support workflows.

Which Hosting Services Does Hostwinds Add?

Welcoming Hostwinds into the HostPapa family is a milestone moment for us. It advances our ambition to be the most trusted hosting partner for SMBs, developers, and resellers globally, and it gives us a deeper, broader offering across every tier of the hosting stack

— Jamie Opalchuk, Founder and CEO of HostPapa.

Hostwinds adds product depth across four main hosting categories. Shared hosting supports small-business and entry-level website customers. Cloud VPS gives users isolated resources and more control than shared hosting allows. Dedicated servers provide full-server infrastructure for heavier workloads. Reseller hosting supports agencies, developers, and hosting businesses that manage client accounts under their own service model.

This range expands HostPapa’s portfolio beyond beginner-focused website hosting. Hostwinds adds services for customers who need more control, higher resource allocation, or reseller capacity.

Which Data Center Locations Are Included?

Hostwinds brings data center facilities in Seattle, Dallas, and Amsterdam. HostPapa says these facilities add Pacific Northwest and European infrastructure to its global footprint. The locations also support Hostwinds’ cloud VPS, dedicated server, and reseller hosting services.

Seattle strengthens HostPapa’s presence in the Pacific Northwest. Dallas adds central U.S. capacity. Amsterdam gives the group a European hosting location for customers that need infrastructure closer to that region.

How Does the Deal Fit HostPapa’s Acquisition Strategy?

HostPapa says the Hostwinds deal reflects its disciplined acquisition strategy. The company says the strategy focuses on established, customer-centric hosting brands that strengthen its platform, expand geographic reach, and create long-term value for customers, partners, and employees. HostPapa also says Hostwinds joins a portfolio that includes Hostopia, ColoCrossing, and CloudBlue.

The acquisition fits the wider consolidation pattern in hosting. Larger hosting groups continue to buy established brands to add customers, infrastructure, support teams, and product depth. HostPapa gains VPS, dedicated server, reseller, and data center capacity through this deal.

What Happens to Existing Hostwinds Customers?

HostPapa says existing Hostwinds customers will continue receiving service through the brand, supported by HostPapa’s broader resources. Customers should still watch for practical changes over time. Hosting acquisitions can lead to updates in billing systems, support paths, product packaging, control panels, renewal terms, or infrastructure options. HostPapa has not detailed those changes in the announcement, so the near-term message is continuity rather than migration.

HostScore Take: HostPapa Is Building a Broader Hosting Stack

At HostScore.net, we see the deal as a meaningful expansion beyond HostPapa’s traditional (Canadian) small-business hosting image. Hostwinds adds a more technical layer to the group’s portfolio, especially for developers, agencies, and users who need more control than standard shared hosting provides.

The true customer benefit, however, will depend on execution. You should watch whether HostPapa keeps support consistent, explains product changes clearly, maintains pricing transparency, and preserves useful data center choices after the integration.
