I hosted with Cloudways for the better part of 2024. I was initially impressed with feature to price ratios of their tiers. I got to know the platform pretty well and decided to give being an affiliate a shot.
I managed to talk a client into migrating their sites over to Cloudways and scored my first commission. $150. It took a few months and a lot of back and forth with my affiliate rep to get a payout. There were a lot of scripted excuses as to why it was taking so long.
Finally, my funds were released. I opted to put them in my “bank” to pay my hosting fees for 6 months. However, I felt I was no longer getting the value out my subscription and decided to go where I could get a tiny plan for my tiny site that gets no traffic.
I had $66 and change in my bank. I tried to withdraw it before I canceled my service. I resorted to writing a clear message that I’d had researched their refund policies and since I had just paid December’s fee prior to making my decision, I wanted to make sure that they paid out my remaining bank balance.
That started what is now 7 months into the stupidest situation. They gave me some statement that they process billing and payments on the 25th of the month and I can expect the payout then.
I heard this same BS each month until now.
It went so far as to have one rep accuse me of never being a customer. To which he received a full packet documenting my former patronage.
All of this over $66!
This company has earned my disdain time and time again. I have multiple confirmations and admissions that they do owe me the money.
They say, after the 25th.
I cannot recommend Cloudways whatsoever. The lack of accountability, rampant dishonesty and pure disrespect I have catalogued this year taints their decent hosting product.

We were initially happy with Cloudways. We tested it for one site with the idea of scaling up if things went well. Not that that ever happened. For a short time, the platform worked fine, and we even recommended it to others.
But wow, how things change.
Their customer service is now basically non-existent. Its painfully clear they have no real interest in helping customers, only in squeezing every last cent out of them. After giving them another year despite all the earlier issues, we finally stopped using their service. But we reached out one last time to check something basic on our site, and their immediate response was: First pay.
After years as a paying customer, youd expect at least some level of support or flexibility. Especially given the number of issues we had already flagged over time.
No flexibility. No empathy. Just a cold, robotic pay or get lost attitude.
We gave them multiple chances. Dozens of tickets. Same story every time. They even assigned someone to help us. Who turned out to be better at ghosting than actually solving anything.
Were done. If youre looking for a hosting provider that values you beyond your credit card, look elsewhere. Cloudways is not that company anymore.

I had high hopes for Cloudways, but my experience has been nothing short of frustrating. The process of signing up, even for the free trial, is unnecessarily cumbersome. Instead of an instant signup, they require approval from their end, which can take several days. In my case, it took over three days just to get a reply after submitting all the requested information.
When I reached out via chat to speed things up, I was met with more delays. My case was passed around between teams with no resolution in sight. Each chat felt like a dead end, as nothing concrete was done to address my issue.
If this is how Cloudways handles potential customers, I dread to think how they would manage actual clients. The inefficiency and lack of urgency are unacceptable. They have just lost a potential client due to their poor processes and lack of customer care.

Only lacking 2 features:
– when cloning an application, all git related folders are deleted, which makes cloning complicated (it’s not a real clone)
– the master user cannot use chmod to update the files ownership to the application user, and the application user cannot clone private git repository because it cannot have an SSH public key
I don’t think I have ever reached out for help and not gotten it fixed in the first interaction. Coming from my previous host, where everything took hours to get help with, Cloudways support is in a league of its own. You are all amazing. Keep up the good work.

Since setting up our server in June, we’ve had 4 downtime events on our server. In each situation, support has given terrible spurious responses. Referencing log entries which are hours/days apart from the downtime event. Making changes to our server configuration without asking us or explaining how they relate to the downtime.
To be clear, we have a lot of experience with servers and we’ve investigated each downtime ourselves. There are no spikes in resource usage on the server. We see no evidence of failure at application level. The support team seem unable to explain it. We’ve asked for a meeting with our account manager and in response they have closed the ticket. In a follow up ticket they are now ignoring our replies. Avoid this company at all costs.
After being with them for 2 years roughly i decided to let my servers expire which they did. I paid my last fee and logged out of my account but they decided to put new servers/restore servers that they told me in an email that they permanently deleted back onto my account and extort me for the money (only found out when they sent another email asking for money). I sent them countless emails and opened multiple tickets on site but no one would acknowledge what i was saying. All my emails got ignored, and support would just tell me they would fix it (never did).
The support team is wonderful. I am a graphic designer with wee too many developer responsibilities, and sometimes find myself hanging off a cliff holding onto a sturdy plant (it’s an Icelandic saying). When has happened, the support team at Cloudways has patiently guided me back to safety — even pulled me up occasionally.
I closed my account almost a year ago, after making several payments, because there was always something that wasn’t included. Ten months ago, my contact in the billing department swore in their last email (which I kept) that it was settled, that my account was closed, and that I wouldn’t have to pay anything else. Guess what? For the past month, they have been harassing me over a service I supposedly didn’t pay for. I explained the situation to them and provided proof that they had told me I owed nothing more. It was useless. I ended up paying, and I hope to never receive another bill from them again.

Worst customer service I’ve ever encountered, chasing them for 3 days to get my account activated and not a single reply on chat or email.
After several days I contacted them via chat again and explaining the situation, the agent stopped replying at the end and did not provide any confirmation
Imagine running into such a customer service while actually subscribed to their service!
When it works – fine – but every now and then you get the feeling that someone at board level has decided that there is a way to save a small amount of money – they change what they do/software/settings etc – and you simply can’t log in.
Trying to log in for ages – with your Authenticator spinning its heels while the front end loops around and around… not good.
Turning off security and you are straight in.
Now you just need to wait for some genius in their tech team to realise what the bosses’ decision has broken and for a fix to happen.
If I ever have the time, I will look for an alternative.
Excellent platform and hosting service with excellent support; however, take great care not to inadvertently click on toggle switches in your dashboard, as this could activate paid services for which there is no way to receive a refund, even if you cancel it immediately. Stay far away from this. I had cloned 2 servers with 400 applications. First mistake was already that I was confirmed twice that ALL servers settings, including custom settings of the suppport were copied. This turned out not to be the case. After modifying 400 domains/dns records (spending 12 hours, my whole saturday). And today I deleted the original servers. Then the clones were deleted along with them. Support could not fix it and offered new ips. So again 400 domain names manually updated. Now again 12 hours to go. I will move away from cloudways. Have spend more als 50.000 usd by this company. Time to left now.

During the years here at Cloudways I saw lots of constant improvements making this hosting by “price – services offered” a no brainer.

Cloudways is a good webhost. I’ve had no issue with their service or support since day 1. I’ve been with them for like 5 years now. In terms of cloud servers and uptime, I never had any issue.
I’ve had billing issue that has been taken care by Cloudways support (Iqra Muhammad) immediately. This is what I love about Cloudways, their support is fast and friendly. This is gem.
However, there are 2 aspects I need Cloudways to improve are:
1. If you fail to pay the invoice in due time for some unavoidable circumstances, they keep your backup for 15 days only, this is a very short period of time and should be increased to at least 30 days. Also, the backup wont restore your sites just like that, you’d have to go through a painful process of reinstating things.
2. If you want to update your payment details, the system wont update it after you submit the new details, you’d have to contact customer support.
While their support staff seem great, and so friendly. A lot was over promised and under delivered. As a company they seem to have the resources but the support staff and overall GUI of the platform is horrible.
Their interface lags horribly, the live chat does not work, you can’t even click it.
When doing something on one app on a server, it basically locks you out of any action until that task is complete (which is silly).
They forced us to use DigitalOcean and the servers were just god awful slow.
Signed-up for a trial. The wordpress cloudways migration tool does NOT work. You will only get migration assistance when you enter your credit card details.
And guess what happened next? The migration team “assisted” to migrate my website, made it look even worse, and called it “done”.
Technical support has been a nightmare right from the start.
You may have read good reviews about Cloudways. Do you know why? It’s because they pay content creators to recommend them. That is all.
Cloudways is severely overrated. You have been warned.
Moving away from the nightmare of administration that is plesk, I found cloudways. The host has been great, easy auto WP migration to them, easy admin, built in varnish and caching, bot protection. Easy staging management push/pull.
If I had to pick the back up could be better- I have to manually dl each website vs dl the whole server when I run a backup. Their fully “autonomous” (WP auto upd) offering is not great, its too expensive and lacks options that their “flexible” (self managed) has.
New Relic integration is nice too.

Probably the best support I’ve ever encountered. I don’t have the highest tier support, pretty sure we’re at standard right now but, they have an amazing support team without the high tier. My one complaint is that you don’t have sudo permissions on the server level which makes sense but, is annoying having to bug them whenever you need something. They are awesome and very helpful!

I had an unpaid invoice and requested a 2-day extension for its payment because I received a notification that my server would be deactivated if I didn’t respond. I sent an email on the first day, but I didn’t receive a reply. Then, I requested to speak with a representative through chat. The representative informed me that they were extending the payment time:
“Iqra from Cloudways: I would like to inform you that based on your good billing history and considering the pain that you may face due to service interruption, we have provided you with the exemption. However, please make sure to do the payment by the agreed date to avoid any service inconvenience.”
I thanked them and gave a good rating. A few hours later, I received this message:
“Because we haven’t heard from you yet, we’ve stopped your servers. The next step will be to delete them within 48 hours, and cancel your current subscription plans along with any paid add-ons.”
So easy to use with great support. Just had a live chat with Iqra Muhammad from billing support and my issue was fixed in a few minutes. Always fast, polite and informative. I 100% recommend Cloudways to anyone considering using managed cloud hosting.

We have been with cloudways for over 2 years now and running 4 servers with multiple websites, both wordpress and drupal.
What we love about cloudways is how easy it is to use even from a dashboard which gives you full control over everything you need for running and managing your server but this is just the beginning. Although there were some set backs with support in our case, their support team is always available and help you with your needs in few minutes (we currently use their advanced support addon). We have had issues with our previous service providers but with cloudways, we are putting our efforts to the business instead of worrying about server issues and down times. 10/10 recommend and trust me when I say, it is worth every single cent you’re paying.

Avoid this scam. They continue to bill you after your server deleted. They will not provide any refund and blamed you for not bringing this matter to them earlier. Even so, they will not refund for the recent months if you had brought the issues up to them. Literally a scam company.

I asked for help to restore my site to a previous date. It is something they offer for which i pay for. After spending approx 6 hours for a simple service, i got the run around and nothing was done. Go somewhere else for hosing. These agents lack experience and customer service. You will regret it if you sign up with this company.
They are quite literally trying to steal my money. I have never experienced anything like this. I tested out their service for 1 day, it was extremely slow so I moved to another host. Before I closed my account I asked their customer support to cancel and refund the £8 they charged me, they said there’s no need to refund as it’s taken from my credits. So then I closed my account and left this host in the past. Tell me why I’m now recieving a bill of $44 USD from a closed account by email? Who do I report this to? Because this can’t be legal. How do you stop them from generating new invoices for an account that doesn’t even exist? Going to see how I can report these people.

They invented an invoice for 3 dollars and 10 cents 2 years after I closed my account with them and then threatened debt collection agency if I didn’t pay up.

I think cloudways has been painting me in a corner with malware issues. The support received today was subpar and my guess is cloudways probably doesn’t much care. It’s all good when you give kudos but on the other hand…..
This is the end and parting after being a customer since 2022. I spend $100’s dollars per month since over 2 years. Since their takeover by Digital Ocean, they have been absolutely rubbish! Their customer support don’t care, they pinpoint to wrong issues with your website when alot of the issues are from their end. Endless forth and back.
Their autonomous product is not ready, spent couple of months and gave up but still charged me as always. Once it finally moved, there was a caching issue with their Cloudflare Enterpise caching issue across all website. The load balancers don’t work as advertised either. Their server speed has drastically changed. Been charged for Cloudflare addon when it is disabled. I’ve given them a second chance, I’m now moving all my majority hosting to another hosting.
My website sells and the amount of money I lost because of them is appauling and now doesnt justify in them having my business any longer.
I think alot of these reviews are bogus as most authentic ones are all 1 star. Shame it was such a good company and infrastructure now it’s questionably average.
I have very disappointed about billing system.
I have created my server by moved from another account since August, and next month the first invoice of my new account should be created but it not start and the invoice still combine with old account (September to November).
I contacted the billing support team to resolve the issue since September but it seem no any update and the problem still persists.

I decided to switch to another hosting provider because of bad servers performance and worse service costs in comparsion with another platforms. After asking for remaining credits (nearly $300) refund after waiting about 3 weeks for reply they told me that 3 monhts refund policy passed. Funds were added 20 & 21th DEC 2023 ($400). I asked for refund 20th FEB 2024. I do not reccomend this company. Avoid them.

They are so money hungry that they will literally DELETE your servers, they release your public IP in 48 hours with total disregard that it drastically affects your buisness. I’ve used 10s of other services before and 48 hours for such abrupt actions are the lowest company actually went. I wouldn’t recommend this service even to my enemy.

After 2 years of hard work and hundreds of hours spent building my website they deleted it for an unpaid bill of $13!! I tried adding my new card details onto their system but it would not accept it. I then paid the outstanding amount of $13 but it was still deleted and they did not even back my website up so all is lost! I am furious with them and currently seeking legal advice. They also continue to send me invoices for hosting, despite the fact they deleted my site a couple of months ago – offering me a 30% reduction on current hosting on a site they had already deleted 2 months ago!! They clearly don’t know what they are doing, plus after I complained to them and threatened legal action, their response was ‘Glad we could be of assistance to you’! Clueless!!! Do not use them!!!
Cloudways has great infrastructure and UI, and for amazing value compared to competitors! What wowed me was the support. Ali and Hamza both gave me very, very quick support and solved my issues within minutes, and were even willing to explain to me how to prevent such issues in the future. This is by far the best hosting service I’ve worked with, and I have years of experience with five such companies.
The support at Cloudways is second to none. The issue I had was complex and unique. The support engineer took ownership of the issue, and worked with me quickly and effectively to reach a solution. I put my trust in the team at Cloudways and they never let me down.
My site came under attack from a well known company’s “crawler”. Up until this day my site was running nice and fast on Cloudways excellent server. I panicked because I was unable to view my very own site. Luckily the online support assigned me an excellent engineer by the name of Areeb and he painstakingly analyzed server logs and everything to get my site back up. Truly grateful to the amazing team at Cloudways with a special nod to Areeb!
While their support staff seem great, and so friendly. A lot was over promised and under delivered. As a company they seem to have the resources but the support staff and overall GUI of the platform is horrible.
Their interface lags horribly, the live chat does not work, you can’t even click it.
When doing something on one app on a server, it basically locks you out of any action until that task is complete (which is silly).
They forced us to use DigitalOcean and the servers were just god awful slow.
Changing host servers can go smoothly or not, but you can feel confident Cloudways Support will be available whenever something goes wrong. Brijesh was very helpful and quick to respond to my questions and issues. I LOVE Cloudways! All customer support people that I have interacted with at Cloudways are FANTASTIC and smart and quick and precise on their responses!! I wish all customer support was as great as they are!
It is difficult to use if you come from a classical Cpanel interface; they provide no folder explorer online, and FTP credentials are complicated and don’t even work for viewing root directories. They don’t provide helpful or clear support or even document their new interface very well. Which they brag about highly when trying to sell you on it, lots of default settings are not suitable for business websites to migrate over.
Technical support wasted time and lots of my money repeatedly migrating my website over and over, intentionally costing me $100s just to move a website onto their platform.
I recently had a server issue with Cloudways that I needed urgent help with. Thankfully, Javiria from their technical support team came to the rescue! Not only did she fix the problem in just a few minutes, but she was also incredibly polite, patient, and helpful throughout the process.
It’s rare to find customer service that’s this efficient and friendly. Cloudways has really set the bar high with their support, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. We used their services. However they continued billing us when we transferred their account to another agency. They continued to argue with us. They take your card and continue taking unauthorised payments. I would avoid this company.
I don’t think there is a host that can compete Cloudways customer service.
Very very pleased with them
I used to use Cloudways for a few services. Back in December, price changes effected my monthly bill. Because for the last few years I had so little in the account I go in and top it off occasionally but rarely log in. The bill went up and my credit ran out. They didn’t notify me. Instead they simply deleted my data.
I reached out after the data was deleted but they said it couldn’t be recovered. I was 12 cents short of sufficient credit in my account when the deleted my data.
Since then, they have continued to bill me for the services that I am not receiving… $10/month. Now they are threatening to send the most recent bill of $10 and a few cents to collections (again I still have 9.88 in credit) because I am refusing to pay for the services I have no received since my data was deleted back in December.
Talking to them goes no where. No one cares or seems to understand. They just have rules that they follow without any consideration for the context. More hassle than is worth taking on with this company.

I received no reminder emails about my credit shortage before my data was deleted. I started receiving loads of them after my data was deleted and I was being charged for nothing.
Additionally it isn’t my fault you have an automated system. That’s your responsibility.
Signed-up for a trial. The wordpress cloudways migration tool does NOT work. You will only get migration assistance when you enter your credit card details.
And guess what happened next? The migration team “assisted” to migrate my website, made it look even worse, and called it “done”.
Technical support has been a nightmare right from the start.
You may have read good reviews about Cloudways. Do you know why? It’s because they pay content creators to recommend them. That is all.
Cloudways is severely overrated. You have been warned.
A gentleman named Shamoon helped me at my lowest. I had a project due in a few hours and he got me over the finish line. I am so happy with my Cloudways support and would be lost & or broke without them. This has been by far the best host I have used and love that I have experienced NO DOWN TIME AT ALL. If you’re Shamoon’s manager, give this man a raise!!!!
Horrible company and horrible invoicing. Shut down my server months ago. They sent me an invoice. I paid for it. The next month, they sent me another invoice. They said it was for some add-ons. I said “ok, it’s kinda strange the addons are activated when the server was turned off.” but I paid it anyway. For the past 3 months, they have been sending me invoices, demanding I pay for services that have been paid for already and turned off for months. When does it end? Seems to me like your server management might be the problem, not me.
I was dealing with an issue all day, since early morning, I could not figure it out, and Amir save the day!! Resolved my issues and got everything working. I very much appreciate him going above and beyond to help me out. I do greatly appreciate the excellent customer service.
I use CloudWays to host our website. Server performance is good and the website UI is intuitive and really clear. It makes me feel way more in control over what I am doing. Chat support is educated, fast, and helpful. I have made some configuration and payment mistakes in the past and they always helped me.
In my scenario (a WordPress website with WooCommerce on it) the website is always responsive and easy to navigate. It is using custom fonts and more than 10 shop products that are loading fast.
I used Cloudways for my personal sites and soon realized my company needed to be using Cloudways. The platform has the richest feature set of any hosting provider and their scalability is unmatched with many affordable options. We are moving our sites to Cloudways, especially after GoDaddy’s own support platform crashed and they were unable to help me. We were seeing incredibly slow server latency with GoDaddy and even their WHM & cPanel were lagging. This was using a dedicated server as well. They solved our issue of server latency, backups, CDN, etc.
We have used [Cloudways] to host our social media monitoring platform in PHP. It is probably used by whole organization as our company is small.
What business problems does it address?
We needed a separate server since the social platform is very power consuming. That kind of power cannot be fulfilled by shared servers. And thus we need cloud servers. Cloudways was a good abstraction – it reduced the set up complexity of a cloud server. Everything was on a click. When you dont know how to set up a cloud server technically, (The LAMP stack or the PHP settings etc) Cloudways comes handy. You can easily modify the server settings with one click.
However I find it less appropriate for developers and technical person – If you want to save costs, go for direct cloud providers. Setting up technical stuff is a one time job.
A client was using Pantheon hosting for their website; we needed an environment to support us with two aspects.
1) Scaling website resources to support seasonal spikes in concurrent users easily 2) Reliable uptime and consistent bandwidth and
latency. I looked at a number of suppliers and tech stacks (cloud, VPS, shared hosting)etc.
Finally, I concluded Cloudways as the top choice as they would host the site with the vendor of our choice and provide us with an easy-to-use solution for management and scaling. The website is connected to native Android and ioS Apps, and there are a lot of API requests to sync with the apps. With
all of this going on, Cloudways has been dependable and one less thing to worry about.
