  1. I have been a new / returning inmotionhosting customer, I think I made the biggest mistake ever. I have a vps with cwp that is wordpress optimized. It is garbage. I uploaded a elementor based wordpress site, and got hit immediately with a 403 forbidden code and a ton of messages from the vps saying the problem.

    I contact support, I give them error logs I get from them, they tell me the answers are vague. I spent over 12 hours with support this weekend and a day without emails only to be told I’m the problem.

    You can’t tell these tech people, they are stupid, lazy, incompetent or clueless because if you do, you get an email stating you were using unprofessional conduct.

    This is the company people come to be abused, not sure how much longer I’m staying with this trashy company ..

  3. Worst hosting I’ve ever encountered. Don’t know where to begin even…
    Made a purchase and tried to log in, then they say “wrong user or password and that captcha needs to be completed, which it was.
    Then I contact customer service who only say there’s no account in that name.
    Then they say payment is voided, whatever that means, it’s still a transaction made on my side.
    AND they blame me for their fck up(!)
    And also blame me for not knowing what mail I used…… Even though I’m sure and have a received mail from them doing the purchase he keeps blaming me for not knowing or mistyping (as they can’t have any issues I guess..)
    Instead of solving the issue with all their issues on the site (which are alot!) he closes the chat and when I’m opening it again another comes who doesn’t do anything, but the history repeats. I think it’s the same person wroth another which tell me to act professionally when I ask if there’s someone with pubic around as I’ve only been in contact with kids but he’s also just a being a parrot that repeats “there’s no account in that name” to leave the chat and bring in someone else who can’t even read the previous messages (as nothing here works and maintained by kids without any competency.)

    They lost thousands of dollars a month treating me like shìt and not lifting a finger to solve THEIR issues anyway…
    Do yourself a huge favor and use ANY other provider❗
    Edit: I have no desire to mail that incompetent customer service again. I’ve also moved my business to another great provider who aren’t 15 years old and have a good site, great servers and super customer service!

Long term lousy service; russian hackers used my bandwidth, no help from support for passwords not working, all the c-panel ISP block filters failed, website routinely disappeared, third world support don’t speak understandable english and support email responses are nonspecific canned garbage, difficult domain transfer. Over charged for the basic web hosting – they are just resellers for Tucows. They just sit back and fools like me send them money for overpriced Tucows web hosting.

  10. InMotion does an excellent job at providing approachable infrastructure and tools for running websites. For my business, they offer a click-to-setup WordPress infrastructure that includes ongoing upgrades and backups.

    In contrast to the other big web-service platforms… InMotion is far superior a many ways. Just one example is that I don’t have to figure out what or how these other service providers decided to rename what are otherwise well-known services. For example, “EC2” vs “virtual machine”. Or, “Beanstalk” for something as simple as a WordPress deployment script.

  11. One big problem with InMotion hosting is that they only offer outdated/obsolete and useless CentOs 7 as a sole OS. There is no choice of selecting OS through AMP. They change OS on your request but if you rest through Re-Os cloud server, you are again with CentOs 7. On the other hand, competitors offer choices in better and far professional way.

  16. We are using it for website hosting. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it is extremely sub par. We wanted to upgrade to their VPS services as this seemed like a great choice and USUALLY staying with your hosting company makes everything easier.

    BOY WAS I WRONG. Its been nothing but a mess. Sales said migration was included. Haha, joke on me, included int he fact that I can migrate the site myself, they won’t help at all. Then their platform i is extremely broken. In my experience, it is buggy, and doesn’t work as it should, and their support articles that their chat people love to send you are incomplete.

    In my experience, the support team gets snarky with you fast, loves to push you to billing (so yes, they seem cheaper then much better options like Cloudways but in the end they are actually way more expensive because of the time it takes to deal with their support, bad UI/UX and bugs).

We have got a malware attack on a plugin, we have had issues logging into both our account as well as the cpanel and to top it all off, their support is basically non existent. I have emailed explaining we cant get in and they reply with a ticket where we have to log in to view it but are still locked out. I send more emails begging for a response via email and No replies. DO NOT USE THIS HOST PROVIDER. I will be changing to a different host. I now cannot even get into the wordpress admin as Ive got a fatal error. So I am now screwed. I am going to have to sign up with some one else and completely rebuild our domain. I am very angry about this, not one issue but 4 unresolved with NO response. Id like to know if its possible to lodge a complaint with some consumer guarantees act organization and have some sort of accountability for this.

Support is one of the main things I use to pick my VPS host provider. May have to look for another provider if this unacceptable support continues.

  22. We recently moved several business sites from another major provider. Our prior provider was once very good but their offerings and support have remained static for a few years. InMotion supports more current web features at competitive prices. We pride ourselves on needing very little support help, but of course when we do need it it’s critical. We needed it during our migration, in part because the old provider had some “customized” (i.e. not transferable) DNS records in our sites. InMotion was there quickly and skillfully to resolve migration issues. Their support stands out as the best in the industry.

I have a new InMotion hosting account and need to transfer my existing website to it from another company. 46 hours ago now I raised a ticket with Tech Support asking if they would action the advertised “Free cPanel Backup import” so that I can get up and running. 46 hours later and all I’ve received is the usual initial acknowledgment of my request. Given support is supposedly available “365 24/7” this seems a very, very long time. I’m now beginning to regret the move although I suspect that (if I can ever get up and running!) the actual hosting service will be fine, it’s just avoiding the need for any help or support.

  24. I hosted over 40 websites with inmotionhosting for more than 5 years. All of a sudden, by middle of 2023 my websites started getting hacked and destroyed one after the other. I was constantly reporting the situation to them and they acted clueless and powerless until every one of my websites got compromised.

    By December 2023, the customer service became bizarre and horrible. No response to a chat in 18 hours, sometimes, days. I lost about 7 websites completely and I’ve hard to repair and reconstruct the remaining ones. They proudly told me that the security of my websites while hosting with them is 100% my responsibility. The last customer service rep I chatted with insulted me and I felt very unfortunate to have had any dealings with them. I eventually summoned the courage to move to another host and now I’m fixing things one after the other.

    A very shameful and traumatic experience to say the least. Since the close of 2023, InMotion has been on a downward spiral, and I’m certain it’s a disaster waiting to happen.

  25. For years, I was a Hostgator re-seller customer. But after they were bought out, my experience with their company, particularly the customer service quickly deteriorated. Too many issues, and I finally had a strong reason to leave them, migrate all my clients, and launch with a new provider. As you can imagine, this was no small task and I did a great deal of research on not only the best hosting company but the best re-seller friendly hosting business. Inmotion Hosting quickly gravitated to the top, addressed my questions, and provided an affordable re-seller hosting program. Once I switched, they helped me migrate my old sites, and get me going on the new system. It was a great deal of work, but they were helpful in making it as painless as possible. Since 2016, I’ve had a great and solid experience while also referring other people to them, and becoming an affiliate of their products.

But it takes a while for the chat agent to answer if you need something done because they are flooded with support tickets (makes me wonder why so many problems). The prices are reasonable. I have several clients on two vps servers and they are great to walk me through the fix so I learn and can grow in my knowledge of how to handle some of the issues myself.   34. I was looking for a new web hosting service and mistakenly went for InMotion Hosting.

    After checking with their sales agent how ‘easy’ the transfer process was, and how 24/7 the support is, I went ahead on a 1 year offer (incidentally, they’ll get you for $60 and increase it to $200+ on renewal).

    As soon as I signed up, I contacted support and all they did was send me a link and told me that help transferring would cost $199.

    On trying to facilitate the transfer myself, their phpmyadmin page with the new database I created kept consistently crashing – it would either freeze, or when I clicked my new database to import the file, it froze at that point.

    So I try to do it myself and can’t even get past the first hurdle because of their buggy platform. Anyone would think they want customers to pay the $199

    Requested a full refund less than 2 hours after signing up. Just a shame I can’t invoice them for my wasted time, should have kept on scrolling.

The recording always states that there are more than ten customers in the queue ahead of me. After being on hold for a while, they asked if I wanted to be placed on the call back list. So, I tried that. That does not work any better. Now they have lost that coveted edge they had over their competitors. It is disappointing.

Support tickets go unanswered for 6 DAYS and counting, phone cues (if you can get in line) say the call wait will be many, many hours, and our server is a mess with no way to get it fixed. What has happened to this once-venerable company?
    ***Update***: Despite what the “brand ambassador” said below, we’ve left InMotion. Sent multiple emails to the “Director of Customer Success” and never heard from them. We even had to start legal action to get our own domain released on time. Apparently since their move to Virginia Beach they didn’t take a lot of the competent tech people with them and it shows. Sincerely hope InMotion can return to the excellent company it once was but right now it’s an out-of-control mess from our pov.

  43. Worst hosting ever. I purchased there launch plan December after that maximum time hosting has problem and very low resource also. I contact them many times via live chat and ticket, I have proof. Also support is totally gurbase. Recently I asked them to refund my money they refund only 4$ instatde of 24$. TOTALLY LOSS MONEY AND STAY WITH THEM.

  44. InMotion sold me on upgrading my server for more CPU.They completely botched the migration and all my sites are down – more than a dozen.

    The offer no answers on ETA of afix and can’t even offer an idea when they will start. The custeomer support line takes 20 minutes. The “live” chat NEVER has anyone respond.

    The mark of a good company is when you need them to respond. This company cannot be trusted.Keep your distance.

  45. Servers were very very slow and sluggish, seem to be really oversubscribed on the current hardware configuration. We popped some test sites up and trying to configure them through the control panel was near on impossible. Page loading times are abysmal even on pages with normal static content. All in all we found this hosting solution extremely poor in terms of performance so we moved to a proper hosting company within 2 days.

  46. If you have a simple wordpress website, Inmotion will probably work for you but, if you’ve got a mission critical site, think long and hard.
    You get 2 hrs free support to get your site up and to be sure that isn’t even nearly enough and you’ll pay $90/hr after that and they are slow to respond and slow to catch on to what you need. It can get worse.
    Even if they have hardware or “technical” problems on your server/site, expect to pay to find out what is the problem and don’t expect any estimates on when it will be fixed.
    And, the salesman will shmooze your into oblivion until that 30 day money day back period has expired. But, he’ll forget your name after that.
    You’ll also discover the left and right hands don’t communicate. Today, I experienced outright outages of my website and it took an hour for the tech support agent to discover that it was a bad JSNode that had been bad for over 24 hours and hadn’t yet been fixed. Expect your site to go down from time to time and no one has any idea of why or when it will get fixed. But, you’ll have to pay for that information. And, they have lots of excuses as to why you should pay.

  48. Moved to InMotion Hosting after 17 years with another host. My plan included Chat Support, which I was leary of. However, my two sites were migrated, including emails, etc. and were up and running within hours, all via Chat Support. I never would have expected things to be up and running within such a short time. The Hosting/Migration charges were also a much better deal. I highly recommend InMotion Hosting. I received better service and quicker service than I ever experienced with my previous host.

  49. Our business emails start rejecting emails from our regular customers. Called support, find out they just implemented a spam software, was told either to upgrade to dedicated server for up $450 per year or cancel the service, they cannot do anything about it.
    If I can switch, I will do it in a second. cannot receiving emails from customers is unthinkable.

I’ve been with them around a decade, I’ve already paid ahead of time and no longer rely on them as something for production environments, when my time is up I will likely migrate the rest of my projects elsewhere. This last week alone, my sites and others I manage from different accounts have been down twice, and in the process have had between 3-5 hour wait times to get any time of tech support response (while their sales lines were answered in moments). The servers themselves have been overall pretty decent, but if you are looking for reasonable support times for technical issues I’d look elsewhere.
